All Blacks: Scott Robertson rings the changes for third Test v France

All Blacks coach Scott Robertson has made a number of changes for the third and final Test against France in Hamilton.

The home side hold a 2-0 lead in the series, on the back of a scratchy win in Dunedin and then a more comprehensive showing in Wellington.

Seven players have been named for the first time this season, with one — hooker Brodie McAlister — in line to make his debut off the bench.

Prop Tyrel Lomax, loose forward Luke Jacobson and backs Anton Lienert-Brown and Sevu Reece have all returned from injury, while Ruben Love will play at fullback in his second Test.

In the reserves, prop George Bower, loose forward Dalton Papali’i and halfback Noah Hotham will make their first appearances of the season.

Ardie Savea is again captain in the absence of Scott Barrett.

Damian McKenzie will start in the number 10 jersey.

Robertson was always going to roll the dice for the final Test of the series, and while he has resisted the temptation to play Emoni Narawa on the right wing again - preferring the experience of Rieko Ioane and Reece on the flanks - the lack of lock cover on the bench may raise eyebrows.

Fabian Holland gets his third start of the series in the second row, with Patrick Tuipulotu alongside him.

Should either fail to finish the match then blindside flanker Samipeni Finau will slot in at lock, with either Papali'i or Du'Plessis Kirifi going on as a loose forward replacement. Either Jacobson or Papali'i would likely find themselves as a make-shift lock should any further misfortune occur.

"There is high motivation and focus to perform in Hamilton this week. We are prepared for a determined and spirited French side, and excited to play in front of a passionate sold-out crowd," Robertson said.

"We are thrilled to welcome Tyrel, Luke, Anton and Sevu back from injury and, with 185 caps between them, we know that they will be ready to perform at the highest level. It is also exciting to have Brodie debuting, as well as Ruben, Noah and Timoci adding to their single All Blacks cap.

"These men have earned their place in the team, have trained extremely hard over the last three weeks, and will take their opportunity on Saturday night."
