Four arrested after allegedly crashing stolen vehicle in Auckland

Four people have been arrested after allegedly crashing a stolen vehicle into another car in South Auckland this afternoon.

A police patrol car spotted a vehicle reported as stolen travelling on Portage Rd in Ōtāhuhu shortly before 3pm.

The police helicopter observed the vehicle as it continued to travel south towards Manukau.

The vehicle was not pursued.

It was then spiked on Great South Rd, near Reagan St, but did not come to a stop, Inspector Danny Meade said.

At 3.20pm, the vehicle collided with a member of the public's vehicle at the intersection of Great South Rd and Cavendish Dr.

The group then fled on foot.

"Three were quickly apprehended, and a fourth person was located and taken into custody a short distance down the road soon after," Meade said.

A member of the public sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Motorists around the Great South Rd and Cavendish Dr area have been advised to expect delays as the scene of the crash is cleared.

Enquiries are ongoing and charges are being considered.
