Junk Kouture is an eco-conscious fashion competition that allows post-primary school students from across the globe to design, create, and model jaw-dropping creations - entirely made from recycled items.
This year's event marks 15 years of Junk Kouture in Ireland, celebrating its impact in fostering the creative talent of young people aged 12-19.
Following the inaugural World Final in Abu Dhabi, and wowing audiences in Monaco with the second, Dublin now has the honour of hosting the third Junk Kouture World Final, showcasing Ireland's pivotal role in promoting youth creativity and circular innovation.
On Monday, 3 March, in the run up to the big event, the Junk Kouture Festival of Creativity and Circularity will host The Lab on in The Galleria at the CHQ Building, Dublin - a workshop for students on growth mindset and circular entrepreneurship with guest speakers and alumni of Junk Kouture.
On Tuesday, 4 March, the EUROSPAR sponsored Junk Kouture World Final will be held in the Helix, DCU, hosting 60 finalist teams from Ireland, the UK, France, Italy, the USA, and the UAE.
From mussel shells to window blinds, they will present breathtaking couture designs made entirely from recycled materials in the hopes of winning the coveted 'World Designer of the Year' title.
The judging panel will include American eco-designer, climate activist, Global JK ambassador and author Maya Penn; Buying Director of Primark Sally Taylor; Parisian it-girl and champion of sustainable fashion Lise Pierron; fashion designer and founder of sustainable luxury womenswear brand SML London Stephen McLaughlin.
