Copenhagen Fashion Week is always a highlight of fashion week season, setting the tone for what we'll all be wearing in the months ahead.
Although the Danish capital may be known for its effortlessly cool street style, the AW25 runways proved that designers are pushing boundaries while keeping things wearable.
This season, it was all about elevated practicality, classic tailoring reimagined, unexpected textures and a touch of retro glamour.
From Alis’ fresh takes on denim and streetwear to Rotate’s unapologetic commitment to bringing drama, here are some of the biggest trends straight from the CPHFW AW25 runways that you’ll want to get ahead of now.
The Return of the Pillbox Hat
Jackie O would be proud. The pillbox hat is back, but not as you remember it. This time, it’s bolder, sleeker and decidedly more modern. Herskind led the charge, styling structured pillbox hats with oversized suiting and belted coats, proving that a retro silhouette can be just as powerful today.
At The Garment, we saw the hat in more hues which gave it a playful, almost theatrical edge as it was paired with voluminous eveningwear and exaggerated silhouettes. Whether worn as a nod to vintage glamour or as a bold contrast to minimalist tailoring, one thing is certain: the pillbox hat is having a moment.
Fuzzy Textures
This season, designers fully embraced texture, with fuzzy, plush and tactile fabrics making an impact across collections. Han Kjøbenhavn’s show was a masterclass in mixing the serious with the delicate, with structured dresses going down the runway in pastel furry fabrics with a notable mention for the fuzzy boots and stoles.
Munthe also leaned into the trend, offering luxurious faux fur jackets and cosy separates that felt made for both style and survival in winter. If AW25 had a fabric of the season, it was undoubtedly soft to the touch.
Grey Suiting, But Make It Fashion
Forget the stiff, corporate suit, AW25’s grey tailoring is all about modern, oversized proportions and effortlessly chic layering. MKDT Studio set the standard with relaxed, slouchy suiting in varying shades of grey, proving that tailoring can be powerful without being restrictive.
Bonnetje introduced a more avant-garde take, playing with proportions and unexpected combinations, while Gestuz brought a feminine edge to structured blazers and tailored trousers. Whether styled with sleek boots or dressed down with chunky knits, grey suiting is officially the neutral hero of the season.
Monochromatic Power Dressing
If there was one styling trick dominating the runways, it was monochromatic dressing. Designers fully embraced single-colour looks, using texture and silhouette to add depth rather than contrast. Rotate delivered powerful head-to-toe black and also red ensembles, playing with layers and sculptural details for added drama.
Stine Goya took a softer approach, experimenting with pastel monochrome moments with a floral touch that felt both modern and whimsical. Stel’s collection featured looks with select shades broken up by expert layering, there were all white looks, neon and also orange concepts that made even the most practical pieces feel almost otherworldly.
The message? Commit to one colour and wear it with confidence.
The Rise of Sculptural Outerwear
Scandi fashion has always excelled at outerwear, but AW25 designers pushed things even further with sculptural, statement-making coats. Rolf Ekroth played with dramatic silhouettes, oversized shoulders, and structured shapes that felt almost architectural.
Han Kjøbenhavn continued their exploration of exaggerated proportions, presenting oversized pieces with dramatic features for us to enjoy.
Baum und Pferdgarten focused on a softer approach, with leather separates in neutral palettes and with shoulders doing all the talking. This season’s outerwear isn’t just about keeping warm, it’s about making an entrance.
