8 Irish fitness brands to check out this year

With January almost over, it's natural for many of us to be lagging behind on our New Year's resolutions. Faced with post-Christmas exhaustion, tighter funds and still-short days, it can be a struggle to maintain the motivation we came into 2025 with.

If there's one thing to inspire you to get back to the gym, swimming, spin class or running, it's a bit of new kit.

Of course, money can be tight at this time of year, but investing in a new pair of leggings, a running vest or a snuggly fleece for after your sea swims can be all you need to get back in the fitness mindset.

Here, we've rounded up some of our favourite Irish fitness brands, with many of them focused on eco-friendly practices and giving back to communities.

New Dimensions Active

If you want to exercise like an athlete, it might help to dress like one. Founded by athletes and brother and sister, Jeff and Orla Hopkins, New Dimensions Active is backed by their wealth of knowledge about performance and materials. They offer a range of silhouettes and styles, from zippered jackets that cinch in at the waist (€68) to flared leggings (€64), perfect for going from yoga to the cafe.

Swifter

Proudly created "for athletes, by athletes", Swifter was founded by Dublin hurler James Madden and Irish 800m Olympian, Nadia Power. The pair have woven their sports experience into not only stylish activewear, but exceptional kit and accessories such as the Swiftvest running vest (€40). And if you're new to exercise and want to learn from the best, you can pick up their The Pursuit Training Journal (€28), which shares tools for tracking your progress and staying on target.

Specialising in versatile designs in a range of stylish colours, they're perfect for taking you from a yoga class to brunch with the girls. Prices range from €20 for their classic beanies to €150 for their oversized hoodies.

If you're looking for an eco-minded Irish business to support, this is the one. Not content with just using eco-friendly materials, AWAVE Apparel have set themselves apart by pledging to actively remove plastic waste from the environment and repurpose it in their designs. More than that, they've committed to giving 100% of profits to ocean clean-up charities for at least two years after their launch. And their designs are stunning: pastel shades, high waistbands and rich neutrals. Prices range from €29.99 for sports bras to €70 for hoodies.

Swim Club

Thinking of braving the waves this year with some sea swimming? Swim Club is your one-stop shop for everything you need. Founded and designed in Ireland, they specialise in wetsuits (€60), post-swim snugs (€76.50), wetsuit socks (€25) and more. We're especially fond of their super-soft fleeces (€51) which come in stunning oceanic shades.
