'Free spirit' Lorraine returns to the First Dates restaurant

This week on First Dates Ireland, 80-year-old Lorraine took a second spin around the restaurant in the hopes of finding that special someone.

"I find that people my age can have very fixed ideas," Lorraine told producers on her return to the First Dates restaurant. "Nothing is ever black and white, life is not black and white."

The 80-year-old Offaly woman said that she kept in touch with her past pairing for quite a while after her first time on the show, but things eventually fizzled out.

Now, she's back on the market and looking for someone who can be outgoing, involved in politics, and free from baggage: "If I wanted a job as a baggage handler, I'd be working for Ryanair," she quipped.

Lorraine was paired up with 86-year-old Stan (as it happens, their date fell on his birthday) who hailed from England has been living in Waterford for much of his life.

In 1995, following the loss of his business and the end of a relationship, he moved Ireland where he met Bernadette, a woman he describes as being "the love of a thousand life times".

Eighteen months on from her passing, Stan decided to make the most of the life he has by putting himself on the dating scene and looking for someone special to share his time with.

"Real love is rare, it's wonderful," he told producers. "I've had it a couple of times in my life and I'm hoping that I will have it again."

Born on the Isle of Man, Lorraine moved to Ireland at the age of five, before flying to London at 17. Describing herself as a politically savvy rebel, she told producers of a time she hitch-hiked to a festival at the Isle of Wight.

The two bonded over their love live music, people watching, the arts, and living for the day.

While Stan described himself a classical music afficianado, Lorraine says she loves all music ("even a bit of punk or a bit of heavy metal").

By dessert, Stan was reading poetry and horosopes to Lorraine, and the two agreed to see eachother for a second date.
